Let’s get started!
– 3/4 cup Sugar – 2 tsp Baking powder – 1/4 tsp Salt – 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla – 1/4 cup Butter – 2 cups All-purpose flour – 1/2 cup Sourdough discard – 1 Large egg – 3/4 cup Water or milk
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease your donut pan. 2. Melt the butter and set it aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. 3. In a separate medium bowl, mix the melted butter, egg, sourdough starter, and water.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. 5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a zip-lock bag with the corner clipped to create a 1/4-1/2 inch opening.
6. Pipe the batter into each donut well. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-17 minutes. 7. Remove the donuts from the pan and place them on a wire rack to cool.
8. In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk or cream to make the glaze. 9. Dip one side of each donut into the glaze, then place the donuts glaze-side up on the cooling rack to set.
