1. Place the sliced cucumbers in a colander set over a bowl. 2. Sprinkle with kosher salt and stir to coat evenly. 3. Let them sit for 15-30 minutes to drain excess liquid.
4. Pat the cucumber slices dry with a paper towel or clean kitchen towel and transfer them to a large bowl. 5. Add the red onion, red wine vinegar, sugar, black pepper, and crushed red pepper to the bowl with the cucumbers.
6. Stir until everything is well combined. 7. Cover the salad and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
