– 1 loaf bread day old torn into pieces – 2 sticks salted butter use plant-based butter for vegan version – 2 cups yellow onions chopped – 2 cups celery chopped – 32- ounce chicken stock use vegetable stock for vegan version – 2 tablespoons Fresh Sage If you use dried sage use 2 teaspoons – 1 teaspoon Salt – 10 grinds black pepper – Nonstick spray
1. Turn the oven on to 350°F. 2. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Mix the bread pieces, onions, and celery in the baking dish. 3. To moisten all of the bread, add broth or water to the mixture and gently squeeze with your hands, making sure to squeeze off any excess.
4. Incorporate the sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper into the mixture by working them into it. Test the seasoning with a taste, and make any adjustments. 5. Gently mix in the beaten eggs, giblets (if using), and small pats of softened butter with your hands until well combined.
6. Bake for 40–60 minutes at 350°F, covering the stuffing halfway through if it starts to brown too much. 7. Top with gravy and serve.
