Let’s get started!
– 20-25 grapes washed and completely dried – 2 cups white sugar – 1/2 cup water – 1/4 cup light corn syrup – white gel food coloring Find it here – other gel colors of your choice – 2 teaspoons flavored oil of your choice
1. Rinse the grapes under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Place them in a bowl and set aside. 2. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved.
3. Continue to boil the sugar syrup for about 5-7 minutes, or until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F/149°C on a candy thermometer). 4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool for a few minutes. If desired, add food coloring or flavored extracts to the syrup and stir until well combined.
5. Using a fork or a skewer, dip each grape into the syrup, coating it evenly. Allow any excess syrup to drip off before placing the coated grape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. 6. If desired, sprinkle the coated grapes with sprinkles or other decorations before the syrup hardens.
7. Repeat the dipping process with the remaining grapes. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator or freezer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the coating is completely hardened. 8. Once the coating is hardened, remove the grapes from the refrigerator or freezer and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious, cracked grapes!
