– 2 oz 60 ml whiskey (bourbon or Scotch) – 1 tablespoon 15 ml honey – 1/2 oz 15 ml fresh lemon juice – 1 cup 240 ml hot water – Optional: cinnamon stick cloves, or star anise for garnish – Optional: lemon twist for garnish
1. In a kettle or saucepan, heat the water until it reaches a simmer. Alternatively, you can heat the water in a microwave-safe container in the microwave. 2. In a heatproof glass or mug, add the whiskey, honey, and fresh lemon juice.
3. Pour the hot water into the glass or mug, stirring gently to dissolve the honey and combine the ingredients. 4. Optionally, garnish the Hot Toddy with a cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, or a lemon twist for added flavor and visual appeal.
5. Serve the Hot Toddy immediately while it's still hot, and enjoy its soothing warmth and comforting flavors.
