– 1 tsp Vanilla extract – 1 cup Evaporated milk – 1 cup Chopped pecans – 1 cup Brown sugar – 1 ⅓ cups Flaked coconut – 3 Egg yolks – ½ cup Butter
1. Mix evaporated milk, brown sugar, butter, egg yolks, and vanilla in a saucepan and place over medium heat. 2. Stir continuously while cooking at a gentle boil until the mixture thickens and reaches a light caramel hue, approximately 10 minutes.
3. Once thickened, remove from heat and mix in the coconut and pecans. 4. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before using it to frost the cake.
