Let’s get started!
– Maple syrup – ½ cup Softened salted butter – Milk, to thin as needed – 3 cups Powdered sugar – 2 tsp Vanilla extract – 3 tsp Baking powder
– 1 ½ cups Salted butter, softened – 4 ½ All purpose flour – 1 ¼ cup Brown sugar – 3 tsp Vanilla extract – 3 Eggs – 1 ¼ cup Granulated sugar
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. 2. In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth. 3. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs and vanilla extract. 4. Mix until well combined.
5. Add the flour and baking powder to the mixer and mix until the cookie dough forms. 6. Scoop generous 1/3 cup portions of dough and roll into balls. 7. Flatten each ball into a 1/2-inch thick circle and place on a cookie sheet.
8. Repeat with the remaining dough. 9. Arrange 6 cookies on each tray. Using a skewer or the back of a thin wooden spoon, create a waffle pattern by pressing 4 vertical and 4 horizontal grooves into each cookie.
10. Bake at 375°F for 12-15 minutes, until the cookies have spread slightly and the centers puff up and no longer appear wet. 11. While the cookies bake, prepare the buttercream.
12. Cream the butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated after each addition. 13. Mix in vanilla extract and a splash of milk as needed to achieve a thick consistency.
14. Once all powdered sugar is added, use a small cookie scoop to place a dollop of buttercream on each warm cookie. 15. Drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy warm, using a fork for a delightful treat.
