  • 3 Heaping tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the chopped onion.
  • Season the onions with a pinch of salt and cook until they turn translucent and release a strong aroma.
  • Sprinkle in the flour and stir continuously for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture has the consistency of wet sand.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk, making sure it's fully incorporated.
  • Add the nutmeg and bay leaf, and season with salt to taste.
