- 4 New York strip or rib-eye steaks
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1/4 cup lite Soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp Ground ginger
- 1 pinch Garlic powder
Score the steaks on both sides and set aside.
In a zip-top plastic bag, combine oil, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, vinegar, ginger, and garlic powder. Mix well.
Add the steaks to the marinade, seal the bag, and turn to coat them evenly. Refrigerate for 8-10 hours.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat when ready to cook.
Remove the steaks from the marinade and discard the marinade. Place the steaks on the grill.
Cook over direct heat for 6-8 minutes per side or until desired doneness (time will vary based on steak thickness).
Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest, covered lightly with foil, for 5 minutes before serving.
- For a stronger flavor, marinate the steaks overnight.
- Let the steaks rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling for even cooking.
- To prevent flare-ups on the grill, pat the steaks dry with paper towels before grilling.
- Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the marinade by tweaking the amount of honey and soy sauce used.
