Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp Shaoxing wine divided
  • 1 lb Broccoli florets cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil canola or vegetable oil works
  • 1/4 tsp Sesame oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely minced
  • 2 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tsp Sesame seeds optional

Instructions
 

  • Mix sliced beef, cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of Shaoxing wine in a ziplock bag. Let it sit for 20 minutes.
  • Microwave broccoli in a bowl with a wet paper towel for about 2 minutes until partially cooked.
  • Combine oyster sauce, water, 1 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine, brown sugar, soy sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Stir well.
  • Heat oil in a wok on high heat.
  • Add 1/3 of the marinated beef and sear for 1 minute on each side. Repeat with remaining beef.
  • Add minced garlic and ginger to the wok and cook for 10-15 seconds.
  • Return beef to the wok, add broccoli, and pour in the sauce.
  • Toss everything together until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • - Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly so it's nice and tender.
  • Let the beef sit in a mix of cornstarch and Shaoxing wine for extra flavor and softness.
  • Before cooking, give the broccoli a quick steam in the microwave to get it started.
  • Use a really hot pan to cook the beef fast and keep it juicy.
