- 16 Ounces Gnocchi homemade or store-bought
- 4 Tbsp Butter
- 2-3 Sprigs Fresh Sage
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/4 Cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Boil the Gnocchi: Cook the gnocchi according to the package directions. Once done, drain well.
Brown the Butter: In a large pan over medium-high heat, add the butter and sage leaves. Stir occasionally until the butter begins to lightly brown and has a nutty aroma, about 2 minutes. (Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.)
Set Aside the Butter: Remove the browned butter from the pan and set it aside.
Cook the Gnocchi: Add the olive oil to the same pan (add extra sage leaves if desired for flavor) and heat over medium-high. Add the drained gnocchi and cook until golden brown on one side without stirring, about 5-6 minutes.
Combine and Season: Add the browned butter back into the pan with the gnocchi. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring gently. Season generously with salt and fresh black pepper.
Serve: Sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese and serve warm.
- Homemade Gnocchi: For the best results, consider making your own gnocchi.
- Watch the Butter: The butter can quickly go from browned to burned, so monitor it closely.
- Pre-made Browned Butter: If using pre-made browned butter (available at some stores), you’ll need 4 tablespoons. Cook the sage in olive oil for about 1 minute before adding the gnocchi.
