  • Heat oil to 375°F in a deep skillet or cast iron pan.
  • Using a teaspoon, drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil, frying 5-6 at a time. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
  • Remove the donuts and drain on paper towels, then roll them in cinnamon sugar while still warm.

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until well combined.
  • Stir in the milk, adding just enough to reach a smooth, pipeable consistency.
  • Fill a piping bag or squeeze bottle with the frosting. Gently insert the tip into each donut and fill with the cream cheese glaze.

Notes

  • Measuring flour: Spoon the flour into your measuring cup and level it off for accuracy.
  • Baking powder: Make sure it’s fresh! Replace it every 6-12 months for the best rise.
  • Cinnamon: If you want an authentic Cinnabon flavor, try using Makara cinnamon.
