Homemade Pizza Rolls Recipe
Like your childhood favorites, these Homemade Pizza Rolls are stuffed with pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce. They're a fun weekday snack that's easy to make using crescent dough, making them completely irresistible! Load them up with melty mozzarella and plenty of pepperoni for a delicious treat.
Ingredients
- 5 Egg roll wrappers
- 1/3 cup chopped Mini pepperoni or regular-sized, minis are thicker
- 1/4 cup Pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Heat Oil: Preheat 1"-2" of oil in a pan to 350°F or in a deep fryer.
- Prepare Wrappers: Cut each egg roll wrapper into 4 squares.
- Chop Cheese: Chop the mozzarella cheese into smaller pieces.
- Mix Filling: In a bowl, mix together the pepperoni, pizza sauce, and cheese.
- Fill Wrappers: Place heaping teaspoonfuls of filling onto the left side/center of each egg roll wrapper, leaving 1/2" above and below the filling.
- Seal Edges: Using your finger, wet all the edges of the wrapper with water. Gently roll the pizza roll up and press above and below the filling to seal the edges. Wet the top and bottom again and gently fold each up to create a small seal.
- Fry Rolls: Place about 4 rolls into the heated oil at a time, frying for about 1-2 minutes until puffy and golden.
- Drain: Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve: Serve with additional pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Seal Tightly: Ensure you seal the edges of the wrappers well to prevent them from bursting open while frying.
- Monitor Oil Temperature: Keep the oil at 350°F for perfect, golden, and crispy pizza rolls without burning them.
- Pre-Make and Freeze: Prepare and freeze the rolls before frying. When ready to eat, fry them straight from the freezer for a quick snack.
