- ½ cup dried lentils, rinsed and picked ove
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ¼ tsp fresh ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt
Place dried lentils in a small saucepan and add enough water to submerge them completely.
Bring to a boil, then lower the heat, cover the saucepan, and let the lentils simmer until they are very soft and thoroughly cooked.
Stir occasionally, adding more water if necessary.
Once the lentils are done, take the saucepan off the heat.
Use a potato masher or fork to mash the lentils.
Mix in olive oil, salt, freshly ground black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Cover the pan and let it sit for about five minutes before serving.
