The truth is, Neiman Marcus decided to share this delicious recipe for free. Now, everyone can enjoy baking and eating these rich, chewy, and chocolatey cookies!

Equipment

  • Blender (to blend the oatmeal into a coarse flour)

  • Electric mixer with paddle attachment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups Oatmeal blended into a coarse flour
  • 2 cups Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 12 oz. 2 cups Chocolate chips
  • 1 4 oz. Hershey bar, grated
  • 1 ½ cups chopped Nuts

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Blend the oatmeal into a coarse flour using a blender.
  • Mix the blended oatmeal, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl.
  • Cream the butter and sugars together in an electric mixer with a paddle attachment on medium-high speed until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla until everything is well blended, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture, mixing just until blended.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and nuts. (Optional: cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes. If you do this, add an extra minute or two to the baking time.)
  • Roll the dough into balls and place them two inches apart on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can use walnuts or pecans for the nuts. If you decide to skip the nuts, add an extra 3 tablespoons of flour to the dough.
