- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 ½ cups butter softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl until smooth.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut dough into shapes with cookie cutters and place on ungreased baking sheets.
