Equipment

  • Two skillets
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kodiak Cakes Powercakes Mix
  • 1 cup Water
  • 6 Eggs
  • 16 oz Breakfast sausage
  • 6 slices Cheese optional
  • Maple syrup optional
  • Cooking spray or oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and coat with cooking spray or oil.
  • Mix 1 cup of Kodiak Cakes mix with 1 cup of water. Adjust the consistency with more mix or water as needed for a thicker batter.
  • Scoop the batter onto the skillet to form 3-4 inch pancakes. Cook until bubbles appear, then flip and cook for another minute or until golden brown. Repeat until all pancakes are made, spraying oil between batches.
  • Form 6 sausage patties from the breakfast sausage. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
  • Cook the sausage patties on the hot skillet until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F or are browned. Add a slice of cheese to each patty near the end of cooking to melt.
  • Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl. Add a splash of milk if desired. Pour into a hot skillet and cook either scrambled or as an omelette. For easier assembly, cook the eggs in a "patty" shape.
  • Lay out pairs of pancakes on plates. Place a sausage patty and cheese on one pancake and eggs on the other. Combine to form sandwiches. Repeat until all sandwiches are assembled.
  • Drizzle maple syrup over the sandwiches if desired.
  • Enjoy your homemade Sausage McGriddles!

Notes

  • Aim for a thicker consistency for a sturdier McGriddle when mixing the batter. You want it to hold up well when sandwiched between the other ingredients.
  • For perfectly melted cheese, add it to the sausage patties near the end of cooking. The residual heat will melt it just right.
  • You can prepare the pancakes, sausage patties, and eggs ahead of time and assemble the sandwiches when ready to eat. This is great for busy mornings or meal prep.
