- ½ cup hoisin sauce
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp. honey
- 1 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder
- 4 " piece ginger
- 5 garlic cloves
In a small saucepan, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, and Chinese five-spice powder.
Peel and finely grate ginger and garlic cloves.
Add grated ginger and garlic to the saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
Whisk often and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 2–3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
