The Freshman Cook: A Mantel of Love!/Day 8 of 14 Days of Valentine's Day!

Because this is the first time I have had a fireplace mantel in a while,

I tend to want to decorate it for just about every occasion that comes around.

So for February, that occasion is Valentine’s Day. I could have gone with

a President’s Day mantel. It is certainly a special day, but I think that

Presidents Day lends itself more to elementary school bulletin boards,

and probably wouldn’t make it as a cute mantel. 🙂

As you can see I used lots of red with a dab of pink.

I gave a nod to romance with the candles and the heart pillows.

I added some fun with the pom poms and the red boa,

and because I love tradition I added conversation hearts,

the candy kisses, and the red engineers lantern.

This is my side table in the living room. I found this little plate at Michael’s and I thought it was just perfect for not only Valentine’s Day, but always. I think I will keep it out year round. Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? I hope you have a warm and cozy, wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Thanks for stopping by today!
