What Is The Taste Of Hush Puppies?
Hush Puppies have a crispy exterior and a moist, tender center. They taste similar to buttery, salty cornbread that has been fried to crispy perfection—an irresistible treat!
How Did Hush Puppies Get Their Name?
Hush puppies are said to have originated when Confederate soldiers, cooking around a campfire, quieted their dogs by tossing them fried cornmeal cakes, commanding them to “hush, puppies!”
How Are Cornbread And Hush Puppies Different?
The primary distinction lies in their preparation methods: cornbread is baked, whereas hush puppies are traditionally fried, which accounts for their contrasting textures—although it’s worth noting that hush puppies can also be prepared using an air fryer.
