- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 Head iceberg lettuce shredded (about 3 cups)
- 2 Roma tomatoes diced
- 8 tbsp Sour cream optional
- 2 tsp Taco Bell Sauce
Instructions
Mexican Seasoned Beef Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix together masa harina, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, seasoning salt, paprika, ground cumin, garlic salt, sugar, dried minced onion, and beef bouillon powder.
- Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef, stirring well.
- Transfer the browned beef to a colander to drain the grease.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Add the spice mix and 3/4 to 1 cup water. Stir to combine.
- Simmer the beef mixture on medium-low heat for 20 minutes, or until most of the moisture has evaporated. Remove from heat before the meat becomes completely dry.
- Burrito Refried Beans and Tortillas:
- Heat the refried beans in a small pan over low heat, stirring occasionally until warm and pliable.
- Warm each tortilla in a skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side.
- Remove the tortilla from the skillet and cover with a towel to keep warm.
Burrito Assembly:
- Spread 2-3 tablespoons of refried beans on each tortilla, leaving the sides clear for easier rolling.
- Add 1/2 cup of seasoned ground beef over the beans.
- Top with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, and Taco Bell Mild sauce.
- Add a dollop of sour cream if desired.
- Fold the bottom of the tortilla up, then fold the sides over from left to right to form the burrito.
- Serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy!
Notes
- Heat Tortillas Properly: Warm your tortillas in a skillet for about 30 seconds on each side to make them more pliable and easier to roll without cracking.
- Drain the Beef Well: After browning the ground beef, drain the grease thoroughly to avoid a soggy burrito filling.
- Layer Strategically: Spread the refried beans first to help hold the other ingredients in place, making for a neater and more enjoyable eating experience.

How Do I Keep My Burritos From Getting Soggy?
To keep your burritos from getting soggy, make sure to drain the grease from the cooked ground beef thoroughly. Also, don’t overfill the burritos with wet ingredients like salsa or too much sour cream. Heating the tortillas before assembling the burritos can also help create a barrier that keeps moisture out.
Can I Make Burritos Ahead Of Time And Freeze Them?
Yes, you can make burritos ahead of time and freeze them for later. To do this, assemble the burritos without any fresh toppings like lettuce and tomatoes, which can become soggy when thawed. Wrap each burrito tightly in plastic wrap or aluminium foil, then place them in a freezer bag. When you’re ready to eat, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight and reheat in the microwave or oven.
