These Cilantro Lime Shrimp Lettuce Wraps are super easy to make! They’re bursting with fresh flavors like lime, garlic, and cilantro, making them perfect for a quick lunch or dinner on a busy day. I really enjoy shrimp and all kinds of seafood, but shrimp especially because they cook so quickly—just a few minutes and they’re done!
I like to add guacamole and salsa to these wraps for extra flavor. They’re a great low-carb option that’s light yet satisfying, thanks to the protein in the shrimp. These wraps are refreshing and healthy—a perfect choice any time of year!
What I love most about this recipe is how little time it takes to prepare and cook the shrimp. Even as summer ends and fall approaches, these wraps remain delicious. They’re so tasty on their own that they don’t need any additional sauce or dressing. It’s simplicity at its best!
Cilantro Lime Shrimp Wraps Recipe
Ingredients
For the seasoning:
- 1 tbsp Smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the lettuce wraps:
- 1 tbsp Butter or olive oil divided
- 3/4 – 1 lb medium Shrimp shelled and deveined
- 3 tbsp Lime juice
- 3 to 4 tbsp chopped Fresh cilantro
- 1/2 medium Onion thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 – 2 medium Bell peppers red, yellow, green, cored, deseeded, and thinly sliced
- 1 head Butter lettuce leaves washed and dried
- Sliced avocado and lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, dried oregano, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add half of this seasoning mix, along with 1/2 tablespoon lime juice and 1 tablespoon cilantro, to the shrimp. Toss well to coat.
- Heat 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn golden and opaque, about 2-4 minutes. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Melt the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of butter in the same skillet. Add the sliced onions and cook for about a minute until fragrant. Add the bell peppers and the rest of the seasoning mix. Cook for another 2 minutes or until the vegetables reach desired tenderness.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Add the remaining lime juice and chopped cilantro. Toss everything together until well coated. Remove from heat.
- To assemble the lettuce wraps, place a spoonful of the shrimp and vegetable filling into the center of each butter lettuce leaf. Top with sliced avocado and serve with lime wedges.
Notes
- Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: Shrimp cook very quickly, so make sure not to overcook them. They should be opaque and just slightly firm to the touch when done.
- Fresh Ingredients: Use fresh cilantro and lime juice for the best flavor. The brightness of these ingredients really shines through in this dish.
- Adjust Seasoning to Taste: Taste the shrimp and vegetable mixture before assembling the wraps. Adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lime juice as needed to suit your preferences.

Can I Use Frozen Shrimp Instead of Fresh?
Frozen shrimp can be used for this recipe. Make sure to thaw them completely before cooking. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, as this helps in achieving a nice sear and prevents the shrimp from becoming watery during cooking.
What Are Some Good Toppings For These Shrimp Wraps?
There are several tasty toppings you can add to these wraps to enhance their flavor and texture. Sliced avocado, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, or a dollop of sour cream are popular options. You can also drizzle with additional lime juice or sprinkle with extra chopped cilantro for a fresh finish.
