It’s hard to go wrong with this rich, fatty fish, especially when it’s coated in a sweet, savory, sticky glaze. Honey Garlic Salmon Bites have it all! The cubed salmon, combined with honey, fresh garlic, butter, and soy sauce, creates bite-sized pieces that are simply delicious.

Pair these salmon bites with brown rice and green vegetables like Honey Garlic Green Beans or Roasted Frozen Broccoli for a complete and healthy dinner. Leftover salmon can be stored in an airtight container and will stay fresh for 2-3 days.

To reheat, you can use the microwave, which works surprisingly well for seafood and is super convenient. Alternatively, you can warm them up in the oven at 250-300 degrees F until heated through.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb Salmon skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil divided
  • 2 tsp Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger grated
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 2 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp chopped Chives

Instructions

Prepare the Salmon:

  • Pat dry the salmon cubes with a paper towel.
  • Season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Pour about a tablespoon of oil and massage the seasoning into the salmon cubes.

Cook the Salmon:

  • Heat a heavy skillet with a tablespoon of oil over medium heat.
  • Add the salmon cubes in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping them often until crispy and golden.
  • Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate and repeat with any remaining salmon cubes.

Make the Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining oil.
  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey.
  • Simmer the sauce for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Combine and Serve:

  • Return the crispy salmon bites to the skillet and toss them well with the sauce.
  • Check and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve the salmon bites over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped chives.

Notes

  • Dry the salmon well: Removing extra moisture helps the salmon get crispy.
  • Even pieces: Cut the salmon into even-sized cubes for consistent cooking.
  • Season well: Ensure all salmon pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  • Add a kick: For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper to the seasoning blend.

Can I Use Another Type of Fish Instead of Salmon?

Can I Use Another Type of Fish Instead of Salmon?

Yes, you can substitute salmon with other types of firm fish like trout or cod. Adjust the cooking time accordingly based on the thickness of the fish cubes to ensure they cook through without overcooking.

How Can I Adjust the Sweetness of the Dish?

If you prefer a less sweet flavor, you can reduce the amount of honey used in the recipe. Start by using less honey and adjust to taste. Alternatively, you can add a bit more soy sauce or a splash of lemon juice to balance the flavors without compromising the sauce’s consistency.
